It’s the morning of your first Whole30 day. If you are not a black coffee drinker, then you instantly realize you have to change one of the first things you may do every morning. You think, do I really have to drink my coffee black?! Well no, but you can’t have what you normally do. During this 30 days we are saying goodbye to dairy and processed junk. Unfortunately that means a lot of yummy creamer too or drastically changing your Starbucks order. So, I’d say if you can enjoy your coffee black then do it! Drinking it black is the easiest way.
If black coffee is not for you, there are some things you can add. Try adding coconut oil, coconut milk, or cocoa. The coconut milk does have to be Whole 30 approved! Trader Joes coconut milk and the Whole Foods 360 Brand coconut milk are two brands that are approved.
I have not whipped up this mug of coffee yet, but found this great recipe on a Whole30 Forum from ultrarunnergirl1, who has been a Whole30 Moderator for years.
- Warm 1/4 cup coconut milk in a mug
- Add 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa
- Add 1/4 cup hot coffee
- Blend with hand wand or in a blender
- Fill with more coffee until you get your desired taste
If you end up trying the recipe let me know how you like it! Also, if you are joining us for this Summer Kick Off Whole 30 Challenge, take pictures and use this hashtag – #CANWhole30.
Good luck on Day One! 🙂
